Think about the many ways in which our world is shaped by war.

For instance, that easy-rock standby "The Year of the Cat," by Al Stewart. It gets much of its imagery from a WWII movie ("Casablanca," made just after the US entered the war), and its central theme and title from the Vietnamese calendar (and written just after the war ended).
