rest in peace, kyle keener

I've told this story before.    It's my favorite Kyle Keener story.    Sure, you'll hear musicians talk about his great musical memory or his generosity in giving people the spotlight, or his near inability to make a false move musically, or any of a dozen other things.    But here's my memory of Kyle.

When people tell you how the world is, they're really telling you how they are.    Catherine got pregnant in 09, with a girl.    I can't tell you how many guys responded with, "Ohhhhhh no —– now you're in for it";  or "They're great right up till they hit 13, then it all goes crazy";  or "Watch out!"    Sheesh.

At a gig, Kyle mentioned that he'd heard Cate was pregnant.    I said, "Yep, and we just found out that it's a girl."

His entire face just melted into a beatific smile, as he said, "You're gonna fall in love."
