jon stewart theme peeve
The Daily Show's main theme is schizo: first a mock-grand tech-orchestral news theme, then a rock-n-roll late-night talk show theme. Fitting, but it always bugs me right at the transition. I think it's a bad edit, not between the news theme and the rock theme, but right at the top of the rock theme.
There's a drum fill, then a hard-rockin' groove, but right around beat one and two of the groove there's a bit of a glitch. Right? Am I the only one who perceives this? Do you perceive it too? It's just like either the band took a second to get to the right tempo, or, more likely, there is for some reason — I can't imagine what — a little nip-tuck between beats one and two of the opening measure. It makes me trip every dang time. Like an off-kilter wallpaper pattern, it's all I see now.
