You sometimes hear how Latin or French the English language is: "over x percent of our words!" Yes, but 198 of the 200 most used words are German, and that's something like 80% of our daily talk.

Moreover, the structure is German. When you were a kid, you never accidentally conjugated a verb Latinly. But it's almost guaranteed you did Germanly.
