cheering in the streets

This is so good to know. Every country has its Rumsfeld, assuring the boss that they'll greet us with cheering in the streets.

Though I'm not glad to see it happening again, I'm relieved that it isn't *us* blustering through with zero plan for an insurgency, yet again. Star Wars has it right: the Empires of the world keep trying vulnerable plans, and the ragtag underdogs keep undermining those plans, and then the Empires keep trying more of the same vulnerable plans.

Then read the above. Notes like this help us remember the human cost of this folly.

Will we learn from history? History says, "no."

There was a reasonable amount of cheering in the streets when Sadam was toppled. https://www.baltimoresun.com/bal-te.war10apr10-story.html

That doesn't justify the invasion but it is worth noting.
